The Homestead Apartments were acquired in January 2016 with the bond/LIHTC closing occuring in July 2016 to facilitate a $5M rehabilitation. Hampstead successfully had the building designated historic through the National park Service to guarantee the preservation of the historically significant building. The 55-unit apartment building is located in northwest Washington, DC, six miles north of Capitol Hill in Washington’s Brightwood Park neighborhood. The project includes 45 units that are restricted to residents earning 60% of the area median income (AMI) as well as 10 market-rate units.
